Wendy Cohen

Through work reminiscent of Klee in its textures and palette and Picasso in its use of the human face as a flexible sculptural form, Wendy Cohen weaves fantastical, exuberant journeys of imagination. Bursting with brilliant colours and energetic movement, Wendy says her inspiration lies in the way she continually challenges herself and runs with stimulating ideas that rise above the mundane. Her works are a feast for the eyes, with their thickly textured multi-layered surfaces and variety of interesting mixed media. Born in Cape Town, South Africa, she grew up being influenced by the rich and majestic African culture. She presently lives and works in Sydney where she has been exhibiting her work since 2005 and has recently shown her work in New York which garnered very positive reviews.
