Anne Karakotchian studied Visual Arts at Sydney College of the Arts and continued her studies with a Diploma in Education. Her second degree in Visual Asts was obtained at the National Arts School in Sydney. Anne currently works as a teacher-lecturer at the Art Gallery of NSW.
Anne Karakotchian's exuberant paintings confront us with abstract and semi-abstract elements which allude to objects, landscapes and memories from her visit to different destinations.
The composition involves ways of creating ideas of light, movement and rhythm. With an emphasis on the natural qualities of paint, proportion, colour, calligraphy and layers. These being the means of communication to works which are full of vitality.
Anne is a keen traveler and her work is a visual diary of her experiences in various locations, sometimes with close friends up in Queensland, travelling to Europe with family or fellow artists at Bundanon. Anne considers even the mundane movements and thoughts in a day to be a journey and worth while documenting if moved too.
The layers lead the viewer to explore the interwoven images like an archaeological dig, thus discovering the personal statement of the painter’s journey. Educational Qualifications
