The images depict cloth suspended in space, blown around by unseen forces but frozen by time. They're about death; presence and absence, the imprint we leave through our physical possessions and also on the people around us. I like the idea that the objects we own will out-live us and in years after our death the scratches, creases and marks we have made on them will still exist even if only in a rubbish heap. The works are intended to evoke a sense of loss, of emptiness on the part of the viewer. I've relied on a monotone palette to suggest a ferrotype photograph, a sense of time elapsed of looking back into the past.
